Buying and selling
Shop stock depends on the size of the settlement. Shops buy back at a third of the price, and never run out of gold.
Press F on a shopkeeper to open their shop. The window has Buy and Sell tabs, a Cart, and Confirm: pick what you want, check the cart, then confirm.
What a shop stocks
Bigger places sell better goods:
| Settlement | Most expensive item on sale |
|---|---|
| Hamlet | about 400 gold |
| Village or town | about 3,000 gold |
| City | about 12,000 gold |
| Capital | no limit |
Each smith also sells weapons of its own trade beyond the old patterns: one-handed ones in any hamlet, two-handers, bows and shields from a village up, the finer variants and the crossbow only in cities.
Selling
- Shops buy at a third of an item's price.
- A town's shopkeepers never run out of gold: they buy as much as you bring. A shopkeeper hired in a player city pays from their own purse, and stops buying when it is empty.
- What you sell becomes part of their stock.
