Waykeepers: home and travel
In every capital and the Haven's three towns, a Waykeeper makes the town your home for free, or sends you to another of those towns for a fare.
A Waykeeper stands in the square of every capital of the realm and of the Haven's three towns, Bridhill, Madfallsti and Thorvault: 26 towns in all. While he is inside your minimap it shows him as a small gold ring. Walk up to him and press F to open his window.
Make this my home
Free. The town becomes your home: where you wake after death, and where a Scroll of Recall and the recall powers take you. It replaces any home you made before, at another Waykeeper or at a Runemaster's Heartwood: the last one you made counts, and it counts ahead of your guild's own Heartwood. The top of the window says where your home is now. See Where you wake.
Travel
The window lists the other 25 towns, nearest first, with how far each is and its fare. Click one to pay and go: you arrive in front of that town's Waykeeper, and the horse you are riding comes with you. Carts and wagons do not.
- The fare is 25 gold plus 5 gold for every kilometre in a straight line, and never more than 600 gold. Bridhill to Thorvault costs 37; most capitals are about 100 from their nearest neighbour. It is paid from the gold you carry, not from your bank, and a town you cannot afford is greyed out.
- Once every 5 minutes. After a journey the rows show how long until he will send you again.
- Stand within 10 metres of him. He will not send you while you are dead, if anything hurt you in the last 15 seconds, while one of your trades or purchases is still settling, or while you are at the controls of a siege engine or at a ship's helm.
- Nothing is taken when he refuses. If something stops the journey after the fare was paid, the gold is given back.
