Talking to people

Point at someone and press Interact. Some have stories; some have shops, training or a bank.

KeysF

Walk up to someone and look at them. If they have something for you, a prompt appears: Press F to speak with…, …to shop, …to train, and so on. Press it, or double-click them with the cursor showing.

Some people have more to say than a price list. A conversation opens a panel with up to three things you can say or do. What you choose is remembered, and some choices change what happens next or hand you something to carry. Everything you take up is kept in your journal.

Every settlement's guard, champion, mage and healer will also stop for a word: Press F to talk to… opens the same panel. That talk is only talk: it is different in every settlement, nothing you say is remembered, and nobody stops to chat in the middle of a fight. Ask where to go and each will point you somewhere real nearby, usually another town, and roughly how far it is. A champion who knows of a dungeon will name it, a mage near dead ground will warn you of it, and healers know the nearest mine. Walk through a town and you will overhear them, too.
