Trade by sea
Sending a Cog or a Carrack of goods to another city's harbour over the sea lanes.
A city with a dock can send its goods by sea, from the City tab's Trade caravans form (Guild Leader or Inner Council). Choose Cog (by sea) or Carrack (by sea) as the team, the destination city and the load, then Send ship.
| Team | Hold | Speed | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horse (road) | 120 | 2.2 m/s | 50 gold + 1 per 25 m |
| Ox (road) | 160 | 1.5 m/s | 30 gold + 1 per 40 m |
| Cog (sea) | 400 | 4.5 m/s | 40 gold + 1 per 120 m |
| Carrack (sea) | 1,200 | 5.5 m/s | 80 gold + 1 per 150 m |
- Both cities need a dock: a Wooden Pier or a Shipyard. A Carrack sails only from a Shipyard.
- Your city sends as many ships at once as its docks have ranks.
- The ship follows the sea lanes between the two harbours. If no lane joins them, the order is refused before anything is paid.
At sea
A merchant ship is a real ship near players: it sails itself, and it can be rammed or shot to pieces. A ship that goes down takes its whole hold with it; there is no wreck to loot. What the destination's storage cannot take on arrival is lost, as with every caravan.
