Bows, crossbows and thrown weapons
Draw, aim with the crosshair, release. Arrows go where the crosshair points.
| Weapon | How to fire |
|---|---|
| Bow | Hold Left Mouse to draw. Release after a full draw to shoot; releasing early lets the arrow down without a shot. You move at 70% speed while drawing. |
| Crossbow | Press once to span it; it reloads on its own and stays loaded. Then hold to aim and release to shoot. |
| Thrown weapon | Press to throw, or hold to keep your arm cocked and release to throw. A throw costs 8 stamina and can be repeated about once a second. |
- Shots fly to whatever is under the crosshair, not straight out of your hands. Aim with the crosshair.
- There is no ammunition to buy or run out of.
- A thrown weapon is never used up: it returns to your hand. Its range is about 24 m.
- Head shots and shots from behind hurt more, just as in melee.
- A finer bow, crossbow or thrown weapon hits harder, up to 20%, if you have the skill to use it, and Dexterity adds a little. See Weapons, armour and what you can use.
- Bows and crossbows cannot block. Keep your distance.
