Knockdowns and being thrown

The heaviest creature attacks knock you flat or throw you. You get up, and cannot be floored again at once.

Ordinary damage never knocks you down. Only certain heavy attacks do: an ogre's club, a charge, a tail sweep, a pounce, a giant's stomp. A bear rearing onto its hind legs is about to maul you. A fist fighter's Thunderstrike, Battering Ram and leg sweep knock you down too (Fighting with your fists).

  • A light knockdown drops you where you stand. A heavy one throws you several metres.
  • After a creature's blow you are down for well under a second, then you get up. A fist knockout keeps you down longer: about four seconds from the blow until you stand.
  • After a knockdown you are immune to another for about 5 seconds. You will not be pinned down.
  • A bigger creature throws you further, and a smaller character flies further.
  • Lesser blows make you flinch, stagger or stumble instead.
  • The Kick weapon power shoves a person, or a beast no bigger than a wolf, about a metre and a half back and staggers them. With a weapon in your hands, V uses it. Kicked through a raised guard they are still pushed, half as far. Bears, horses, cattle and anything larger stand their ground.
  • Being shoved or knocked down breaks off a spell you are casting and the blow you were winding up.
