Recruiting soldiers
Each unit costs gold, military goods and citizens. Barracks and Stables decide what you can raise and how many.
Open /buildmode and pick the Army tab. Recruit units there, cancel queued ones, and march units from the garrison into the field. The kit buttons above the list buy each recruit better arms and armour from the city armory: Levy (free), Equipped, Well-armed or Elite.
| Unit | Needs | Costs |
|---|---|---|
| Levy Spearmen | Barracks rank 1 | 80 gold, 20 Arms |
| Archers | Barracks rank 2 | 100 gold, 20 Bows |
| Militia Swordsmen | Barracks rank 2 | 120 gold, 30 Arms, 10 Armour |
| Heavy Infantry | Barracks rank 3 | 200 gold, 30 Arms, 30 Armour |
| Light Cavalry | Stable rank 1 | 180 gold, 20 Arms, 20 Horses |
| Heavy Cavalry | Stable rank 3 | 320 gold, 20 Arms, 20 Armour, 20 Horses |
- Military goods are made in your city: Arms and Armour at the Smithy, Bows at the Sawmill, Horses at the Stable. They are kept in your Warehouse or Storehouse.
- Every recruit is also one of your citizens. The city always keeps 5 at home.
- How many: 2 units per Barracks rank and 1 per Stable rank, plus 4, 8 or 12 for a Keep, Fortress or Citadel; at most 60 per city.
- An army holds up to 20 units, and a city can have 8 armies in the field. Up to 8 units can wait in the recruiting queue.
