The minimap
A heading-up map of the ground around you, with every nearby person and creature as a coloured dot.
The minimap in the top-right corner turns with you: straight up is the way you face, and the N, E, S and W markers circling the edge point to north, east, south and west, the same directions as on the world map. It draws the ground itself (terrain, water, rivers and the outlines of buildings and walls) so you can find a gate or a ford at a glance.
Use its + and − buttons to zoom between 50 and 200 metres. Your coordinates are shown under it, and a small pill warns you when the ground under you is low or dead for magic.
The territory panel
The box under the minimap names the province you stand in and its realm, and says who holds the ground where you stand and by how much ("Varnholt 62% · Mordain 38%"), Unclaimed, or Dove Peace on the Haven island, where inside one of its towns the box names the town with the Haven under it. It says when the ground is your homeland and how much faster you recover there, and when you are fed by your siege camp or short of food (see Homeland and supply). When the holding city is besieged it shows when the battle starts, or that the siege is being fought now, and it names the province's mine, who holds it and how long its capture window stays open. See Territory and outposts.

A gold diamond is the waypoint you set on the world map. Beyond the minimap's reach it sits on the rim in its direction, and its distance is shown under the minimap. See The world map.
A small gold ring with a pale centre is a town's Waykeeper, who sends travellers to other towns and makes a town your home. It shows only while he stands inside the minimap. See Waykeepers: home and travel.
