Construction and upgrades
New buildings rise piece by piece as your builder crews haul materials. Work never outruns what has been delivered.
A newly placed building is a construction site: scaffolding, and the building growing inside it piece by piece. Everyone can see how far along it is.
- Your city has 3 builder crews. They work on sites in the order you placed them.
- Each crew hauls materials into the site: first from the site's own chest, then from the city's storage. Gold comes from the Heartwood's treasury.
- Work never outruns delivery. A site short of stone stops until stone arrives.
- A happy city builds faster, a miserable one slower (from 0.6× to 1.25×). See Food, rations, ale and mood.
- A site houses, employs and stores nothing until it is finished.
Upgrades
In Building Management, Rank + starts an upgrade job that costs the building's price times the new rank. Builders fill it the same way. Rank − cancels a pending upgrade and refunds what had been hauled. Buildings go up to rank 8.
