Work orders and hireling crafters

Tier 3 to 5 work is ordered at a player city's station and finishes while you are away. A city's hireling crafters take tier 1 and 2 orders from anyone.

You make tier 1 and 2 things by hand. Anything of tier 3 or above (bars, planks, leather, tools, packs and gear alike) is a work order: pick it at a player city's station whose rank is at least the order's tier, with your profession at that tier too, and press Place order. The materials, any trophies and gems, and a fee from the gold you carry are taken at once, you gain the profession experience at once, and the work goes on without you.

  • Each unit after the first adds a tenth of that time. A station ranked above the order's tier works 10% faster for each rank above it, and a city's mood speeds its stations up or slows them down. No order takes more than 4 hours.
  • The fee is not paid to anyone: it is gone.
  • The window's Orders tab lists yours with the time left. You are told when one is ready; collect it at the station where you placed it.
  • You can have 10 orders open.
  • A station that is destroyed or falls to rubble loses every order in it, materials and all.

Hireling crafters

In a player city, a station whose building has a hireling takes orders for tier 1 and 2 work from anyone: press Order from the hireling instead of Make. The hireling works at level 55, so it sets enchantments up to the lesser grade from your own trophies and gems (lesser needs a station of rank 3). Time and fee are an order's, and you gain no experience: the hireling did the work. Town stations have no hireling crafters.
