Salvage and reforging
Break gear, tools and packs down for part of their materials, and have a jeweller replace one enchantment with another.
Salvage
At a station that makes it, the crafting window's Salvage tab lists the weapons, armour, tools and packs in your bag that it can unmake, whether you made them or found them. Salvage destroys the piece and gives back part of its recipe's materials: 30% at profession level 0, rising to 50% at 100, with a chance at each part-unit.
- Each enchantment may also give back the trophy that makes it: 25% for a minor one, 15% for lesser, 10% for greater, doubling by level 100.
- Masterwork and craft-only enchantments never give their trophy back.
- Take a piece off before you salvage it. Pieces in the bank and unidentified ones cannot be salvaged.
- You gain half the experience of making it.
Reforging
At a jeweller (a town's Apothecary, Trading House or Market House, or a city's Magic Shop), the Reforge tab replaces one enchantment of a weapon or armour piece in your bag with the one a trophy and a gem choose, by the same rules as a new piece: see Enchantments and masterwork. Your Jewelcrafting level and the jeweller's rank must reach the grade. The old enchantment is lost, and the trophy and gem are used up.
- A town's jeweller sets minor grades only; a city's Magic Shop of rank 3, 4 or 5 reaches lesser, greater or masterwork.
- Jewelcrafting gains 20, 40, 70 or 120 experience by the grade you set.
- Worn and unidentified pieces cannot be reforged.
