Crafting at a station
Forges, workbenches, tanneries, kitchens and more make things. Stand beside one and press Interact. Tier 3 and above is a work order.
Crafting happens at a station. Walk up to one and press F, or type /craft beside it. The window lists what it makes by profession and tier; pick a recipe to see its materials, set how many (up to 100), and press Make. You stand and work a few seconds for each, and the results go in your bag. Moving or being hit stops you.

Station rank. A town's station works up to tier 2. A player city's works up to its building's rank, at most 5. A recipe needs a station of at least its tier, and your profession must have opened that tier.
You make tier 1 and 2 by hand. Anything of tier 3 or above is placed as a work order at a city station good enough for it and finished while you are away. See Work orders and hireling crafters.
Fittings. A smith makes Siege Fittings (2 Truesteel bars, 2 Oak planks) and a polearm-wright Ship Fittings (3 Oak planks, 1 Leather), both tier 2. Put into a city's storage, they let its Siege Workshop or Shipyard build a kit or a hull from a quarter of the planks and iron, in half the time: the council picks the fitted recipe.

Gear
Every weapon and armour piece has a recipe. Its tier comes from its value, and it takes its main material of that tier by its weight (2 to 14), plus a little more:
| Profession | Station | Main material | Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bladesmithing | Forge | Bars | 1 leather |
| Axe and Hammer Smithing | Forge | Bars | 1 plank, 1 leather |
| Polearm and Staff Making | Workbench | Planks | 1 bar, 1 leather |
| Bowyery | Workbench | Planks | 1 leather |
| Armoursmithing | Forge | Bars | 2 leather |
| Mail Making | Forge | Bars | 1 leather |
| Leatherworking | Tannery | Leather | nothing |
| Shield Making | Workbench | Planks | 1 bar, 1 leather |
A piece you make can carry two enchantments of your choosing. See Enchantments and masterwork. The window's other tabs salvage what you carry (Salvage and reforging), list your work orders, and at a Barracks open the city armory (The city armory).
