Dungeons and portals
Dungeons are reached through portals. Walk in; the world changes around you with no loading screen.
Every dungeon has a surface entrance: a gateway, crypt door or cave mouth. Turn on the map's Dungeons layer to see where they are, and click a marker to read about one.
To enter, walk through the portal. You cross into the dungeon at once, with no loading screen. Everything that followed you in, and everything waiting inside, is real: other players, monsters and loot.
- If a crossing cannot complete, you are put back where you started and the portal lets you try again after about 15 seconds.
- While you are inside a dungeon, the world map shows you, and any groupmates in there with you, at its entrance.
- Die in a dungeon and you wake at the nearest settlement on the surface, not deep inside. See Where you wake.
- Some dungeons are dead magic ground. See Magic zones: low and dead ground.
- The Deep, west of Kudg, is the one dungeon where death is permanent. See The Deep: permanent death.
