The world map

Pan, zoom and read the realm: find settlements, set a waypoint, see your group, and read cities, armies, roads, territory, magic and dungeons.

Type a name into Find a settlement at the top of the side panel and pick a result (or press Enter for the first) to fly the map there and read its account. The same search sits over the map when you choose a hometown.

With nothing selected, the side panel tells you where you are: your province, who holds it, and the nearest settlement (click its name to find it). Below that are the world coordinates under your cursor and your own, so you can tell others exactly where a place is. The bar at the bottom right shows the map's scale.

Town plans

Zoom right in on a settlement and the map draws its plan: walls, with the gates picked out in gold, its buildings, streets and squares, bridges, quays and the ships moored at them. Once you are that close the shields step aside and every settlement's name stands in its place; click the name to read its account.

Waypoints

A waypoint is a gold diamond on the map and on your minimap. While it is beyond the minimap's reach the diamond rides the minimap's rim, pointing the way, with the distance written underneath. It clears itself when you arrive, or use Clear waypoint in the side panel.

Share in chat puts the waypoint into your chat line as a location link (Share my position does the same for where you stand); send it in whichever channel you like, and anyone who clicks it gets it as their own waypoint. If you lead a group, your waypoint is your group's: members see it as a blue diamond on their map and minimap, named in their side panel.

Home and city

A green ring marks where death returns you: the Heartwood you are bound to, else your guild's, else your hometown. The side panel's where you are says which, and how far. Your own guild's city wears a gold ring around its crest.

Your group

Members of your group appear as light blue dots with their names, the leader in gold, wherever they are in the realm. A dot fades when its news is a few seconds old and disappears if no word comes for a while.

Bigger places fly bigger shields: a capital's is the largest, then a city's. With the whole realm in view only capitals and cities are drawn, and capitals are named. Zoom in and the cities are named too, then the towns appear, then the villages and forts. A settlement you have pinned stays on the map at any zoom. Hover a shield for its kind, rough population and features (port, walls, citadel, temple).
