The Language row at the top of Options lists every language the game can show. A new choice takes effect the next time you start the game. Until a language is chosen, the game follows your system's language when it has that language, and English otherwise.
The people of the world speak your language too, though not every line of it. In German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Chinese you hear shopkeepers, innkeepers, bankers and runemasters greet and serve you, townsfolk greet you, bid you farewell and remark on the state you are in, bandits shout, and the guards, champions, mages and healers of every capital and city talk among themselves. A line that is not spoken in your language still appears in its speech bubble, silently. In English every recorded line is spoken.
The launcher downloads the voices of your language only. If you change the language in Options, start the game from the launcher once to fetch the new voices; until then the people speak English.
Room acoustics (on unless you turn it off) makes every place sound like the space it is: a stone passage rings, a small house is close and dry, a street has the echo of the buildings round it, and a sound behind a wall or a closed door is muffled. Headphones (3D sound) positions sounds for headphones, so a footstep behind you sounds behind you; leave it off when you play on speakers.
Experimental graphics, in Options below Particle detail, holds newer renderer features that are still being tested, all off to begin with: volumetric fog and dynamic sky reflections. They can cost frame rate or look wrong in places; if one causes trouble, turn it off again.
Chat, guild messages and other text you type can be in any language, including Chinese, Japanese and Korean, whatever language the game itself is set to. Type them with your system's input method (IME): its suggestions appear beside the text box while a text box has focus, and it never takes over your movement keys. Character and guild names stay in Latin letters.
