The performance panel
F2 shows your frame rate, ping, packet loss, memory and position, coloured green, amber or red, to tell a slow computer from a slow connection.
Press F2 to show or hide the panel. It sits at the top left; unlock the HUD with L to move it. The numbers refresh four times a second.
| Row | What it shows | Green / amber / red |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate | Frames per second over the last second, and the average time each frame took. | 55 and up / 30 to 54 / under 30 |
| 1% low | The frame rate of your slowest frames over five seconds. Far below the frame rate means stutter. | As frame rate |
| Ping | The round trip to the server, and how much it varies (jitter). | up to 80 ms / up to 160 ms / more; jitter up to 20 / 50 ms |
| Packet loss | How much of what you send has to be sent again. | under 1% / under 5% / more |
| Bandwidth | Data received and sent. | No colour |
| Gateway | The relay server your connection goes through, such as gw2. Quote it when you report lag. Not shown on a local server. | No colour |
| Video memory | Graphics memory in use, out of what your driver allows. | Amber over 85%, red over 95% |
| Textures | Your Texture quality setting, and how many textures were drawn smaller to fit video memory. | Amber when any were |
| Memory, View range, Players nearby, Position, Graphics | The game's memory use, how far around you the world is loaded (and whether the server is limiting it), other players around you, where you stand in the world, and your graphics card. | No colour |
Reading it
- Low frame rate with a good ping is your computer. Lower the graphics settings, or the Texture quality if video memory is amber or red.
- High ping, jitter or packet loss with a good frame rate is the connection. Wi-Fi and downloads on the same line are the usual causes.
- View range marked as the server limit means a crowded place: the server streams less around everyone until it thins out.
